Privacy and your rights

Information and purposes

The newsletter uses your email, region, language and consent record. Business enquiries contain your contact details and message. Accounts store your name, supplied email and sign-in provider identifier. Advertisers access only their own offers, never the subscriber list.

Sign-in and preferences

Ideas remain available without an account. When configured, Google, Facebook, ChatGPT or a single-use link sent through Brevo allow sign-in. We do not receive your password. Session cookies identify you; language, favourites and preferences are stored in your browser. Signing in does not subscribe you to the newsletter.

Location

Nearby activities use your location only with browser permission, on your device. We do not send this location to our server. You can revoke permission in browser settings.

Monthly draw

The contest uses first name, private email, region, language, proof of accepting the rules and entry month. It is independent of the optional newsletter, sent Thursday at 6 p.m., Montréal time. Unsubscribing does not withdraw an entry; subscribers are not entered automatically. The private contest withdrawal link only affects the entry. Only a verified winner’s first name and region are published. Advertisers and sponsors cannot access the lists. Closed entries are reviewed for deletion after the retention period below, subject to the rules, an outstanding prize or a legal obligation.

Family photos and reviews

Previous photo submissions are kept separately; the new contest requires no photo. Submissions were for adults. You must hold photo rights and permissions from identifiable people, including parental permission for every child. Photos are moderated before publication and location metadata is removed. Only approved photos, reviews, first names and regions become public and shareable. Email and the private withdrawal link remain private. Another advertising use requires separate permission.

Withdrawing a photo

The private link supplied after submission removes the photo from the site. Copies already shared elsewhere may remain. Entering does not subscribe you to the newsletter.

Providers and processing outside Québec

Hosting uses Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure. When connected, Brevo processes addresses for email delivery and Stripe processes payments; we do not store card details here. Google and Meta process information needed for their sign-in services. Some processing may occur outside Québec. These providers and transfers must be assessed before activation. We do not sell the contact list to advertisers.

Retention

Sessions expire after 7 days, Google/Facebook requests after 10 minutes, and email links after 15 minutes. Abuse limits use temporary digests; no raw IP address is stored in the application database. Unpublished photos and closed contest entries are reviewed for deletion after 90 days. Published photos remain until withdrawal or until no longer needed. Business and privacy records are reviewed; legal obligations or disputes may require longer retention. Unsubscribing removes the address from the site list and requests removal from the linked Brevo list.

Your rights and complaints

You may request access, a structured copy of eligible information, correction, withdrawal of consent or deletion, subject to applicable obligations. Identity verification may be necessary. Requests must be handled within applicable legal time limits. Incidents are recorded and assessed; required notifications depend in particular on the risk of serious harm. Material policy changes will be announced on the site.

Optional analytics

Only with your permission, we measure public page visits, visible posters, ideas generated, activity website clicks, favorites added and share-menu opens. A random browser reference counts visits and returns; it is not linked to your account or email. We receive the language, a device category and a source category, without full referring URLs, search text, precise location or raw IP addresses in analytics.

Your choice is stored for 180 days. The browser reference expires after 90 days; visits are separated by 30 minutes of inactivity. Events are kept in a 90-day window and older records are deleted on the next collection or report request. Analytics are hosted with the site; no Google Analytics service is connected. Analytics are restricted to site administrators; advertisers cannot access them.

You may accept or decline without losing access and change your choice through “Analytics preferences” in the footer. Withdrawal stops measurement and requests deletion of events linked to this browser reference. That reference alone is temporarily retained to block transmissions already in flight. Other browsers must be managed separately. Subscriber counts come from the newsletter service and are independent of this choice.

Your privacy request

Request access, a correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, or submit a complaint. We may need to verify your identity before releasing or changing records. Do not send identity documents through this form.
